True love and real trust form the basis of all good teamwork. — St. Arnold Janssen

I came to University of San Carlos without any idea what life I would be living, and what challenges I would be facing. I was very happy that I was able to meet my block-mates, the HUMSS-11-B. They made me feel at home, and I had a “we” feeling when I’m with them. I’m thankful that through the hardships and struggles I had to face, I was with my second family. Truly, without them I would not have survive the first years of Senior High School.
The most unforgettable experience I had in University of San Carlos was when me and my block-mates experienced “USC Apotheosis 2019” where we were tasked to unite as one to perform a speech choir. They gaved us a piece entitled
The Resiliency of a Filipino by William G. Bacani. They gaved us a month to prepare for the event, and it was a competition for HUMSS and Arts & Design blocks. My block-mates and I really prepared for the event. It wasn’t easy because we had to cooperate and unite as one to finish the whole speech choir piece. We had ups and downs. It was a heavy week for us because we had some misunderstanding with my classmates, but it ended with us working things out together.
Practices were made every day, and it was really tiring. We had to finish 6-8 in the evening because we had to memorize our lines and actions well. The last two days before the final event, my classmates decided to form a circle together. It was a method we used to let everyone in the circle see the actions and emotions each person did when performing the speech. It was really fun, and we bonded more in that little circle that we made that night.
After all the practices and preparations, the day of the event came. We were very nervous because most of the blocks really prepared for this event because they looked to ready. Everyone performed well on stage. When it was our turn, we did our best as a block. And it was all paid off in the end. When they announced the winners of the Speech Choir Competitions, we were all nervous. We didn’t expect any awards because we knew the other blocks performed so good.
The results were out. We were Third Place! We were very happy. All the hard work and dedication pulled off in the end. We won.

This experience has taught me a lot of things. It taught me that teamwork and dedication can make anything possible. I was very thankful of my block mates for they really did their best during the event. Even though we had some misunderstandings from the beginning of the practices, we sorted them out in the end and now here we were. We faced many challenges along the way, but we never let these challenges affect the outcome of our hard work and dedication. This was my unforgettable experiences in University of San Carlos. 🙂
